لِّيَسۡـَٔلَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ عَن صِدۡقِهِمۡۚ وَأَعَدَّ لِلۡكَٰفِرِينَ عَذَابًا أَلِيمٗا
That He may question the truthful about their truth.1184 And He has prepared for the disbelievers a painful punishment.
Translator notes (1)
- 1184 i.e., that He may ask the prophets what they conveyed to their people and what response they received. "The truthful" may also refer to those who believed in the message conveyed by the prophets and imparted it to others.

Al-Mukhtasar
Allah took this firm covenant from the prophets to ask the truthful Messengers about their truthfulness to silence the disbelievers. Allah has prepared for those who disbelieve in Him and His Messengers a painful punishment on the Day of Resurrection, which is the Fire.
