They are the classification of the period a surah is placed in. In the data this site uses, 86 surahs are classified as Meccan and 28 as Medinan. The classification comes from a published dataset, which is why the wording here stays "classified as".

The Arabic is the app’s own Uthmani snapshot. Ayah counts, word counts, juz spans and mushaf page ranges are generated from that snapshot at build time and never typed by hand; the build fails if the 114 surahs do not add up to 6,236 ayat. Revelation classification comes from a published dataset, which is why the copy says "classified as".
