قُلۡ أَنَدۡعُواْ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَنفَعُنَا وَلَا يَضُرُّنَا وَنُرَدُّ عَلَىٰٓ أَعۡقَابِنَا بَعۡدَ إِذۡ هَدَىٰنَا ٱللَّهُ كَٱلَّذِي ٱسۡتَهۡوَتۡهُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ حَيۡرَانَ لَهُۥٓ أَصۡحَٰبٞ يَدۡعُونَهُۥٓ إِلَى ٱلۡهُدَى ٱئۡتِنَاۗ قُلۡ إِنَّ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ هُوَ ٱلۡهُدَىٰۖ وَأُمِرۡنَا لِنُسۡلِمَ لِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
Say, "Shall we invoke317 instead of Allāh that which neither benefits us nor harms us and be turned back on our heels after Allāh has guided us? [We would then be] like one whom the devils enticed [to wander] upon the earth confused, [while] he has companions inviting him to guidance, [calling], 'Come to us.'"318 Say, "Indeed, the guidance of Allāh is the [only] guidance; and we have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the worlds.

Al-Mukhtasar
Say, O Messenger, to these polytheists: Should we worship idols, instead of Allah, that do not possess the ability to benefit, nor can they harm us? Should we leave belief after Allah has guided us to it? If we do so, we will be similar to the one the devils have misguided, leaving him confused and without guidance. His companions on the straight path call him to the truth, but he refuses to respond to their call. Therefore, O Messenger, say to them: Allah's guidance is the true guidance, and Allah has ordered us to submit to Him (may He be Exalted and Transcendent) by devoutly sticking to singling Him out and worshiping Him alone because He is the Lord of the Worlds.
