وَٱقۡتَرَبَ ٱلۡوَعۡدُ ٱلۡحَقُّ فَإِذَا هِيَ شَٰخِصَةٌ أَبۡصَٰرُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يَٰوَيۡلَنَا قَدۡ كُنَّا فِي غَفۡلَةٖ مِّنۡ هَٰذَا بَلۡ كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَ
And [when] the true promise [i.e., the resurrection] has approached; then suddenly the eyes of those who disbelieved will be staring [in horror, while they say], "O woe to us; we had been unmindful of this; rather, we were wrongdoers."

Al-Mukhtasar
[The Day of] Resurrection is close to their emergence, and the horror and difficulties of the Day of Resurrection will be on display. [At this time], the disbelievers will be left wide-eyed because of its horror, saying: Oh, may we be destroyed! We were indulged in futility, preoccupied instead of preparing for this great day. Instead, we were wrongdoers by disbelieving and committing sins.
