Surah Al-Jinn 72:9 الجن

وَأَنَّا كُنَّا نَقۡعُدُ مِنۡهَا مَقَٰعِدَ لِلسَّمۡعِۖ فَمَن يَسۡتَمِعِ ٱلۡأٓنَ يَجِدۡ لَهُۥ شِهَابٗا رَّصَدٗا
And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing,1767 but whoever listens now will find a burning flame lying in wait for him.

- 1767 Before the prophethood of Muḥammad (ﷺ) the jinn used to collect information by eavesdropping on the angels and then pass it on to fortunetellers and soothsayers.

Al-Mukhtasar
And that in the past, we would take stations in the sky, listening from them to what the angels circulate. Then we would inform the soothsayers on Earth of it. The affair has changed. So whoever of us listens now finds an ignited fire prepared for him. If he approaches, it is sent upon him and burns him.
