Surah Ali 'Imran 3:44 آل عمران

ذَٰلِكَ مِنۡ أَنۢبَآءِ ٱلۡغَيۡبِ نُوحِيهِ إِلَيۡكَۚ وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيۡهِمۡ إِذۡ يُلۡقُونَ أَقۡلَٰمَهُمۡ أَيُّهُمۡ يَكۡفُلُ مَرۡيَمَ وَمَا كُنتَ لَدَيۡهِمۡ إِذۡ يَخۡتَصِمُونَ
That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muḥammad]. And you were not with them when they cast their pens124 as to which of them should be responsible for Mary. Nor were you with them when they disputed.

Al-Mukhtasar
The story of Zechariah and Mary is knowledge of the unseen, which We reveal to you, O Messenger. When they argued about who was most entitled to bring up Mary, you were not there with those scholars and righteous people. So they eventually decided to draw lots by throwing their pens, and the pen of Zechariah (peace be upon him) won.
