إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغۡفِرُ أَن يُشۡرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغۡفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُۚ وَمَن يُشۡرِكۡ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدۡ ضَلَّ ضَلَٰلَۢا بَعِيدًا
Indeed, Allāh does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allāh has certainly gone far astray.

Al-Mukhtasar
Allah does not forgive that a partner be associated with Him. Rather, the polytheist will reside eternally in the Fire. Through His mercy and favor, He may forgive whomever He wills for anything aside from polytheism. Whoever associates a partner with Allah has completely lost his way and strayed far from the truth, as he has made the creation equal with the Creator.
