۞ ٱللَّهُ نُورُ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ مَثَلُ نُورِهِۦ كَمِشۡكَوٰةٖ فِيهَا مِصۡبَاحٌۖ ٱلۡمِصۡبَاحُ فِي زُجَاجَةٍۖ ٱلزُّجَاجَةُ كَأَنَّهَا كَوۡكَبٞ دُرِّيّٞ يُوقَدُ مِن شَجَرَةٖ مُّبَٰرَكَةٖ زَيۡتُونَةٖ لَّا شَرۡقِيَّةٖ وَلَا غَرۡبِيَّةٖ يَكَادُ زَيۡتُهَا يُضِيٓءُ وَلَوۡ لَمۡ تَمۡسَسۡهُ نَارٞۚ نُّورٌ عَلَىٰ نُورٖۚ يَهۡدِي ٱللَّهُ لِنُورِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَيَضۡرِبُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡأَمۡثَٰلَ لِلنَّاسِۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيۡءٍ عَلِيمٞ
Allāh is the Light996 of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light997 is like a niche within which is a lamp;998 the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allāh guides to His light whom He wills. And Allāh presents examples for the people, and Allāh is Knowing of all things.

Al-Mukhtasar
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the Earth and the Guide of all those therein. The parable of His light in the heart of a believer is like a small niche in an unpenetrated wall that contains a lantern. The lantern is in a bright glass, as though it is a shining star like a pearl. The oil of a blessed tree lights the lantern, the olive tree. Nothing conceals the tree from the sun, neither in the morning nor evening. The oil almost glows due to its purity, even though a fire has not touched it, so imagine how it will be when it touches it. The light of the lantern is on the light of the glass. Likewise is the believer's heart when the light of guidance shines in it. Allah enables whomever He wishes amongst His slaves to follow the Quran. And Allah makes things clear through their likenesses by giving examples. Allah knows everything; nothing is hidden from Him.
