مَّثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِرَبِّهِمۡۖ أَعۡمَٰلُهُمۡ كَرَمَادٍ ٱشۡتَدَّتۡ بِهِ ٱلرِّيحُ فِي يَوۡمٍ عَاصِفٖۖ لَّا يَقۡدِرُونَ مِمَّا كَسَبُواْ عَلَىٰ شَيۡءٖۚ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ ٱلضَّلَٰلُ ٱلۡبَعِيدُ
The example of those who disbelieve in their Lord is [that] their deeds are like ashes which the wind blows forcefully on a stormy day; they are unable [to keep] from what they earned a [single] thing. That is what is extreme error.

Al-Mukhtasar
The parable of what the disbelievers put forth of righteous deeds such as charity, kindness, and mercy to the weak is like ash that the wind has taken hold of on a windy day. It is carried away by the wind and scattered all over the place till no trace of it remains. Likewise, the deeds of the disbelievers have been blown away by their disbelief. It will not benefit them on the Day of Judgment. Deeds not established on firm belief are nothing but misguidance far away from the path of truth.
