وَكَأَيِّن مِّن قَرۡيَةٍ هِيَ أَشَدُّ قُوَّةٗ مِّن قَرۡيَتِكَ ٱلَّتِيٓ أَخۡرَجَتۡكَ أَهۡلَكۡنَٰهُمۡ فَلَا نَاصِرَ لَهُمۡ
And how many a city was stronger than your city [i.e., Makkah] which drove you out? We destroyed them; and there was no helper for them.

Al-Mukhtasar
We have destroyed many towns of the previous nations with more strength, wealth, and children than Mecca, whose people evicted you from it when they denied their messengers, and they had no helper to rescue them from Allah's punishment when it came to them. Thus, nothing can prevent Us from destroying the people of Mecca if We intend to do so.
