And We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you [for the cause of Allāh] and the patient, and We will test your affairs.

Al-Mukhtasar
We will test you, O believers, with striving in Allah's path and fighting and killing the enemy until it becomes apparent, those of you who strive in Allah's path and those who are steadfast in fighting the enemy. We will test you so that We know the truthful person from the liar.
