وَإِن تُطِعۡ أَكۡثَرَ مَن فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ يُضِلُّوكَ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِن يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا ٱلظَّنَّ وَإِنۡ هُمۡ إِلَّا يَخۡرُصُونَ
And if you obey most of those upon the earth, they will mislead you from the way of Allāh. They follow not except assumption, and they are not but misjudging.338

Al-Mukhtasar
If you, O Messenger, were to follow most people on earth, they would mislead you from Allah's religion. Allah's way has always been that the truth is with the minority. Most people follow nothing but speculation that has no basis, and they think that those they worship will bring them closer to Allah, whereas they are utterly wrong in believing this.
