وَإِذۡ يُرِيكُمُوهُمۡ إِذِ ٱلۡتَقَيۡتُمۡ فِيٓ أَعۡيُنِكُمۡ قَلِيلٗا وَيُقَلِّلُكُمۡ فِيٓ أَعۡيُنِهِمۡ لِيَقۡضِيَ ٱللَّهُ أَمۡرٗا كَانَ مَفۡعُولٗاۗ وَإِلَى ٱللَّهِ تُرۡجَعُ ٱلۡأُمُورُ
And [remember] when He showed them to you, when you met, as few in your eyes, and He made you [appear] as few in their eyes so that Allāh might accomplish a matter already destined. And to Allāh are [all] matters returned.

Al-Mukhtasar
And remember, O believers, when Allah showed the polytheists to you when you met them as few and made you bravely go forward towards fighting them. He also made you seem few in their eyes, so they came forward to fight you without thinking of leaving. Moreover, Allah would bring a predetermined matter by taking revenge on the polytheists by them being killed or captured and favoring the believers with victory and defeat of their enemies. To Allah alone, things return, and He will recompense the one who does evil for wrongdoing and the one who does good for good deeds.
