كَدَأۡبِ ءَالِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡۚ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ قَوِيّٞ شَدِيدُ ٱلۡعِقَابِ
[Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They disbelieved in the signs of Allāh, so Allāh seized them for their sins. Indeed, Allāh is Powerful and severe in penalty.

Al-Mukhtasar
This torment befalling those disbelievers is not exclusive to them. Instead, Allah's established way of dealing with disbelievers is what He preordained every time and place. The family of Pharaoh and the nations before them were tormented when they disbelieved in the signs of Allah (may He be Exalted). So, Allah punished them for their sins with His might and power. Indeed, Allah is Strong and cannot be overpowered or defeated, and He severely penalizes those who disobey Him.
