وَعَادٗا وَثَمُودَاْ وَقَد تَّبَيَّنَ لَكُم مِّن مَّسَٰكِنِهِمۡۖ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنُ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ فَصَدَّهُمۡ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِ وَكَانُواْ مُسۡتَبۡصِرِينَ
And [We destroyed] ʿAad and Thamūd, and it has become clear to you from their [ruined] dwellings. And Satan had made pleasing to them their deeds and averted them from the path, and they were endowed with perception.

Al-Mukhtasar
And We also destroyed the peoples of the prophet Hūd and Thamūd, the people of the prophet Saleh. It was made evident to you, O people of Mecca, their dwellings in Ash-Shihr, from Hadramawt and Al-Hijr. Their destruction was made evident through their vacant dwellings that bear testament to their demise. The Devil beautified their disbelief and sinful acts that they were upon in their eyes, leading them astray from the Straight Path. They were clearly able to differentiate between truth and misguidance and righteousness and transgression because of their messengers' teachings. But they chose to follow their desires over following guidance.
