ثُمَّ قَسَتۡ قُلُوبُكُم مِّنۢ بَعۡدِ ذَٰلِكَ فَهِيَ كَٱلۡحِجَارَةِ أَوۡ أَشَدُّ قَسۡوَةٗۚ وَإِنَّ مِنَ ٱلۡحِجَارَةِ لَمَا يَتَفَجَّرُ مِنۡهُ ٱلۡأَنۡهَٰرُۚ وَإِنَّ مِنۡهَا لَمَا يَشَّقَّقُ فَيَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُ ٱلۡمَآءُۚ وَإِنَّ مِنۡهَا لَمَا يَهۡبِطُ مِنۡ خَشۡيَةِ ٱللَّهِۗ وَمَا ٱللَّهُ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعۡمَلُونَ
Then your hearts became hardened after that, being like stones or even harder. For indeed, there are stones from which rivers burst forth, and there are some of them that split open and water comes out, and there are some of them that fall down for fear of Allāh. And Allāh is not unaware of what you do.

Al-Mukhtasar
Then your hearts hardened after these profound admonitions and extraordinary miracles until they became like rocks or even harder. The states of these hearts never change, whereas rocks change and transform. Verily, there are rocks from which rivers burst forth, and some of them split, and water comes out of them, gushing and flowing through the earth, from which people and animals benefit. Some of them fall from the tallest of mountains out of fear of Allah and awe. Your hearts are not like this. And Allah is not heedless of what you do. Rather, He is well aware of it and will recompense you accordingly.
