إِن كَادَ لَيُضِلُّنَا عَنۡ ءَالِهَتِنَا لَوۡلَآ أَن صَبَرۡنَا عَلَيۡهَاۚ وَسَوۡفَ يَعۡلَمُونَ حِينَ يَرَوۡنَ ٱلۡعَذَابَ مَنۡ أَضَلُّ سَبِيلًا
He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in [worship of] them." But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way.

Al-Mukhtasar
He almost led us away from worshiping our gods. Were it not that we remained steadfastly worshiping them, he would have turned us away from them with his clear proofs and evidence. When they see the punishment with their own eyes in their graves and on the Day of Resurrection, they will come to know who is really on the stray path. Is it them or him? And they will come to know which of the two is astray.
