وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ٱسۡجُدُواْۤ لِلرَّحۡمَٰنِ قَالُواْ وَمَا ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ أَنَسۡجُدُ لِمَا تَأۡمُرُنَا وَزَادَهُمۡ نُفُورٗا ۩
And when it is said to them, "Prostrate to the Most Merciful," they say, "And what is the Most Merciful? Should we prostrate to that which you order us?" And it increases them in aversion.

Al-Mukhtasar
And when it is said to the disbelievers, Prostrate to the Merciful, they say: And who is the Merciful? We do not know him, nor do we recognize him. Should we prostrate to whomever you are ordering us while not knowing him? His order to prostrate to the Merciful only increased their aversion to faith in Allah.
