لِّئَلَّا يَعۡلَمَ أَهۡلُ ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ أَلَّا يَقۡدِرُونَ عَلَىٰ شَيۡءٖ مِّن فَضۡلِ ٱللَّهِ وَأَنَّ ٱلۡفَضۡلَ بِيَدِ ٱللَّهِ يُؤۡتِيهِ مَن يَشَآءُۚ وَٱللَّهُ ذُو ٱلۡفَضۡلِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ
[This is] so that the People of the Scripture may know that they are not able [to obtain] anything from the bounty of Allāh1636 and that [all] bounty is in the hand1637 of Allāh; He gives it to whom He wills. And Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.

Al-Mukhtasar
O believers, verily, We have clearly explained Our great grace, which We have prepared for you in the form of multiplied rewards, so that the people of the previous Book, i.e., the Jews and Christians, know that they cannot access any of Allah's grace in terms of being able to give it or withhold it from whosoever they wish, and so that they also know that true grace is in Allah's Hand alone, may He be Exalted; He grants it to whosoever He wishes of His slaves. And Allah is the bestower of great grace, which He exclusively gives to whichever of His slaves He wishes.
