كَمَثَلِ ٱلشَّيۡطَٰنِ إِذۡ قَالَ لِلۡإِنسَٰنِ ٱكۡفُرۡ فَلَمَّا كَفَرَ قَالَ إِنِّي بَرِيٓءٞ مِّنكَ إِنِّيٓ أَخَافُ ٱللَّهَ رَبَّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
[The hypocrites are] like the example of Satan when he says to man, "Disbelieve." But when he disbelieves, he says, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I fear Allāh, Lord of the worlds."

Al-Mukhtasar
The example of those listening to the hypocrites is like the example of the Devil when he adorns disbelief for humans. Then, when a human disbelieves because of the Devil's adornment of disbelief toward him, he [the Devil] says: Indeed, I am innocent of you because of your disbelief. Indeed, I fear Allah, Lord of the creation.
