كَمَثَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبۡلِهِمۡ قَرِيبٗاۖ ذَاقُواْ وَبَالَ أَمۡرِهِمۡ وَلَهُمۡ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٞ
[Theirs is] like the example of those shortly before them: they tasted the bad consequence of their affair, and they will have a painful punishment.

Al-Mukhtasar
The example of these Jews in regards to their disbelief and the calamity that befell them is what befell Mecca's polytheists not long ago, for they tasted the evil of their disbelief's consequences. So those who were killed were killed and those who were captured were captured on the day of Badr, and they have a painful torment awaiting them in the Afterlife.
