Surah Al-Ma'idah 5:13 المائدة

فَبِمَا نَقۡضِهِم مِّيثَٰقَهُمۡ لَعَنَّٰهُمۡ وَجَعَلۡنَا قُلُوبَهُمۡ قَٰسِيَةٗۖ يُحَرِّفُونَ ٱلۡكَلِمَ عَن مَّوَاضِعِهِۦ وَنَسُواْ حَظّٗا مِّمَّا ذُكِّرُواْ بِهِۦۚ وَلَا تَزَالُ تَطَّلِعُ عَلَىٰ خَآئِنَةٖ مِّنۡهُمۡ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا مِّنۡهُمۡۖ فَٱعۡفُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَٱصۡفَحۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ يُحِبُّ ٱلۡمُحۡسِنِينَ
So for their breaking of the covenant We cursed them and made their hearts hardened. They distort words from their [proper] places [i.e., usages] and have forgotten a portion of that of which they were reminded.248 And you will still observe deceit among them, except a few of them. But pardon them and overlook [their misdeeds]. Indeed, Allāh loves the doers of good.

Al-Mukhtasar
Because they broke their covenant, We distanced them from Our mercy and made their hearts so hard that they could not receive any good or admonition. They distorted [the revelation] by changing the actual words or interpreting their meaning according to their desires and abandoned some of what they were told to do. O Messenger, you will keep uncovering their treason against Allah and His believing slaves, except for some who fulfilled what the covenant required of them. Therefore, pardon them and do not call them accountable. Instead, overlook what they do as it is kind, and Allah loves those who are kind.
