ٱتَّخَذُوٓاْ أَيۡمَٰنَهُمۡ جُنَّةٗ فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِۚ إِنَّهُمۡ سَآءَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ
They have taken their oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allāh. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.

Al-Mukhtasar
They made their oaths, which they swear by, claiming faith as a screen and protection for them from being killed and captured. They divert people from faith with what they cast of doubt and delving into bad news and tribulations. Indeed, their actions of hypocrisy and false oaths were atrocious.
