وَلَمَّا وَرَدَ مَآءَ مَدۡيَنَ وَجَدَ عَلَيۡهِ أُمَّةٗ مِّنَ ٱلنَّاسِ يَسۡقُونَ وَوَجَدَ مِن دُونِهِمُ ٱمۡرَأَتَيۡنِ تَذُودَانِۖ قَالَ مَا خَطۡبُكُمَاۖ قَالَتَا لَا نَسۡقِي حَتَّىٰ يُصۡدِرَ ٱلرِّعَآءُۖ وَأَبُونَا شَيۡخٞ كَبِيرٞ
And when he came to the water [i.e., well] of Madyan, he found there a crowd of people watering [their flocks], and he found aside from them two women holding back [their flocks]. He said, "What is your circumstance?" They said, "We do not water until the shepherds dispatch [their flocks]; and our father is an old man."

Al-Mukhtasar
When he reached the watering hole of Midian, he found a gathering of people watering their animals. Away from them, two women kept their sheep back from the water until the rest of the people had finished. Moses (peace be upon him) asked them: Why do you not water [your sheep] with everyone else? They replied: We usually wait to give them water until after the herdsmen leave so that we do not mix with them. Also, our father is an elderly man who cannot do it himself, so we must water them.
