وَلَٰكِنَّآ أَنشَأۡنَا قُرُونٗا فَتَطَاوَلَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡعُمُرُۚ وَمَا كُنتَ ثَاوِيٗا فِيٓ أَهۡلِ مَدۡيَنَ تَتۡلُواْ عَلَيۡهِمۡ ءَايَٰتِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا كُنَّا مُرۡسِلِينَ

But We produced [many] generations [after Moses], and prolonged was their duration.¹¹⁰⁷ And you were not a resident among the people of Madyan, reciting to them Our verses, but We were senders [of this message].¹¹⁰⁸

1107 So they forgot and neglected the ordinances of Allāh.
1108 The Prophet (ﷺ) had no way of obtaining this information except through Allāh's revelation.

Al-Mukhtasar

We made nations and peoples after Moses. Then, so much time passed that they forgot Allah's covenants. You did not stay with the people of Midian, reciting our verses to them. But, We sent you as Our messenger and revealed the story of Moses and his stay in Midian to you, which you informed the people about.
