وَمِن رَّحۡمَتِهِۦ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلَّيۡلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ لِتَسۡكُنُواْ فِيهِ وَلِتَبۡتَغُواْ مِن فَضۡلِهِۦ وَلَعَلَّكُمۡ تَشۡكُرُونَ
And out of His mercy He made for you the night and the day that you may rest therein and [by day] seek from His bounty and [that] perhaps you will be grateful.

Al-Mukhtasar
From His (may He be Exalted) mercy to you, O people, He made the night dark for you so you can rest after getting tired from the day's work, and He made the day bright for you so you can go and earn your living in it. He does all this so that you may be thankful for Allah's favors upon you and not be ungrateful for them.
