وَأَصۡبَحَ ٱلَّذِينَ تَمَنَّوۡاْ مَكَانَهُۥ بِٱلۡأَمۡسِ يَقُولُونَ وَيۡكَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَبۡسُطُ ٱلرِّزۡقَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَقۡدِرُۖ لَوۡلَآ أَن مَّنَّ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡنَا لَخَسَفَ بِنَاۖ وَيۡكَأَنَّهُۥ لَا يُفۡلِحُ ٱلۡكَٰفِرُونَ
And those who had wished for his position the previous day began to say, "Oh, how Allāh extends provision to whom He wills of His servants and restricts it! If not that Allāh had conferred favor on us, He would have caused it to swallow us. Oh, how the disbelievers do not succeed!"

Al-Mukhtasar
Those who wished for the wealth and adornment that Qarun had before the Earth swallowed him up began to take heed and say: Did we not know that Allah extends provision to who He wills from His slaves and restricts it from who He wills?! If Allah had not favored us by not punishing us for what we said, He would have caused the Earth to swallow us up as He did to Qarun. Indeed, the disbelievers are never successful in this life or the next. Instead, their fate and outcome is to lose in both.
