For wrongdoing on the part of the Jews, We made unlawful for them [certain] good foods which had been lawful to them, and for their averting from the way of Allāh many [people],

Al-Mukhtasar
As the Jews did wrong, we prohibited some of the good foods previously permitted for them, such as animals with undivided hoofs and the fat of cows and sheep, except for the back fat. This was also because they prevented themselves and others from Allah's path to the extent that they became known for obstructing others from doing good.
