وَلَا تُؤۡتُواْ ٱلسُّفَهَآءَ أَمۡوَٰلَكُمُ ٱلَّتِي جَعَلَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡ قِيَٰمٗا وَٱرۡزُقُوهُمۡ فِيهَا وَٱكۡسُوهُمۡ وَقُولُواْ لَهُمۡ قَوۡلٗا مَّعۡرُوفٗا
And do not give the weak-minded your property,163 which Allāh has made a means of sustenance for you, but provide for them with it and clothe them and speak to them words of appropriate kindness.
Translator notes (1)
- 163 Although it is their property, Allāh (subḥānahu wa taʿālā) refers to it in the collective sense, reminding us that all wealth is provided by Him for the maintenance of the community as well as of individual members.

Al-Mukhtasar
O guardians, do not give property to those not proficient in disposing of it. Allah made this property a way to provide for the welfare and living expenses of slaves, and such individuals are not qualified to manage and protect property. So, spend on them and clothe them from that property. Speak to them in a good way. Prepare them well so you can give them their property when they reach puberty and become proficient at managing it.
