لَا تَعۡتَذِرُواْ قَدۡ كَفَرۡتُم بَعۡدَ إِيمَٰنِكُمۡۚ إِن نَّعۡفُ عَن طَآئِفَةٖ مِّنكُمۡ نُعَذِّبۡ طَآئِفَةَۢ بِأَنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ مُجۡرِمِينَ
Make no excuse; you have disbelieved [i.e., rejected faith] after your belief. If We pardon one faction of you - We will punish another faction because they were criminals.

Al-Mukhtasar
Do not apologize, O hypocrites, with these false excuses, for you have shown disbelief by your mocking after you had been hiding it. If We will pardon a group of you for leaving hypocrisy, repenting from it, and being faithful to Allah, We will torment a group of you for their persistence in hypocrisy and not repenting.
