ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُۥٓ إِذَا دُعِيَ ٱللَّهُ وَحۡدَهُۥ كَفَرۡتُمۡ وَإِن يُشۡرَكۡ بِهِۦ تُؤۡمِنُواْۚ فَٱلۡحُكۡمُ لِلَّهِ ٱلۡعَلِيِّ ٱلۡكَبِيرِ
[They will be told], "That is because, when Allāh was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if others were associated with Him, you believed. So the judgement is with Allāh, the Most High, the Grand."

Al-Mukhtasar
The punishment you are suffering now is because when Allah alone was called upon, and no partner was associated with Him, you disbelieved in Him and ascribed partners to Him. And when partners were worshipped alongside Allah, you believed. So the judgment is with Allah alone, Lofty with His essence, decree, and dominance, the Great One Who is above all else.
