قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمۡ تَكُ تَأۡتِيكُمۡ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلۡبَيِّنَٰتِۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰۚ قَالُواْ فَٱدۡعُواْۗ وَمَا دُعَٰٓؤُاْ ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِي ضَلَٰلٍ
They will say, "Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will reply, "Then supplicate [yourselves], but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error [i.e., futility]."

Al-Mukhtasar
The gatekeepers of Hell will say in response to the disbelievers: Did your messengers not come to you with clear proof and evidence? The disbelievers will say: Indeed, they used to come to us with clear proof and evidence. The keepers will taunt them by saying: Go ahead and implore us, for we will not intercede for the disbelievers. The supplication of the disbelievers is futile and wasted, as it will not be accepted due to their disbelief.
