[Allāh] will say, "Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot [i.e., disregarded] them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten."

Allah refuted him by saying: This is like what you did in the world; when Our signs came to you, you turned away from them and abandoned them. Likewise, you will be abandoned today in torment.
