And the eminent among the people of Pharaoh said, "Will you leave Moses and his people to cause corruption in the land and abandon you and your gods?" [Pharaoh] said, "We will kill their sons and keep their women alive; and indeed, we are subjugators over them."

Al-Mukhtasar
The leaders and notables among Pharaoh's people said to Pharaoh, provoking him to act against Moses and the believers with him: Will you leave Moses and his people to spread corruption in the land, abandon you and your gods, and call to worship Allah alone? Pharaoh said: We will kill the sons of the Israelites and keep their women to serve. We will overcome them with compulsion, domination, and control.
