وَإِذۡ أَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنۢ بَنِيٓ ءَادَمَ مِن ظُهُورِهِمۡ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمۡ وَأَشۡهَدَهُمۡ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمۡ أَلَسۡتُ بِرَبِّكُمۡۖ قَالُواْ بَلَىٰ شَهِدۡنَآۚ أَن تَقُولُواْ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡقِيَٰمَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنۡ هَٰذَا غَٰفِلِينَ
And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them], "Am I not your Lord?" They said, "Yes, we have testified." [This] - lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection, "Indeed, we were of this unaware."

Al-Mukhtasar
Remember, O Muhammad, when your Lord brought out the descendants of Adam's children from their loins and had them affirm His lordship with the acknowledgment he placed in their innate nature that He is their Creator and Lord, saying to them: Am I not your Lord? They all said: Rather, You are our Lord. He said: We only tested you and took the covenant upon you so that you would not deny Allah's argument against you on the Day of Resurrection and say that you had no knowledge of that.
