۞ أَلَمۡ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ خَرَجُواْ مِن دِيَٰرِهِمۡ وَهُمۡ أُلُوفٌ حَذَرَ ٱلۡمَوۡتِ فَقَالَ لَهُمُ ٱللَّهُ مُوتُواْ ثُمَّ أَحۡيَٰهُمۡۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَذُو فَضۡلٍ عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكۡثَرَ ٱلنَّاسِ لَا يَشۡكُرُونَ
Have you not considered those who left their homes in many thousands, fearing death? Allāh said to them, "Die"; then He restored them to life. And Allāh is the possessor of bounty for the people, but most of the people do not show gratitude.

Al-Mukhtasar
Do you not know, O Prophet, about those who left their homes in huge numbers, fearing death due to plague or the like? This refers to a group of people from the Israelites. Allah said to them, 'Die!' and they did. Then Allah brought them back to life to show them that all matters are in His hands and that they have no control over any benefit or harm that may befall them. Allah is Gracious and Bountiful to people, but most people are not thankful to Allah for His favors.
