۞ أَلَمۡ يَأۡنِ لِلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَن تَخۡشَعَ قُلُوبُهُمۡ لِذِكۡرِ ٱللَّهِ وَمَا نَزَلَ مِنَ ٱلۡحَقِّ وَلَا يَكُونُواْ كَٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُواْ ٱلۡكِتَٰبَ مِن قَبۡلُ فَطَالَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡأَمَدُ فَقَسَتۡ قُلُوبُهُمۡۖ وَكَثِيرٞ مِّنۡهُمۡ فَٰسِقُونَ
Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allāh and what has come down of the truth? And let them not be like those who were given the Scripture before, and a long period passed over them, so their hearts hardened; and many of them are defiantly disobedient.

Al-Mukhtasar
Has the time not come for those who believe in Allah and His Messenger that their hearts soften and become tranquil through the remembrance of Allah (may He be Exalted) and through the promises and warnings revealed in the Quran? Has the time not come that they do not become like the Jews who were given the Torah and the Christians who were given the Gospel, in terms of their hearts hardening? This hardening of hearts was due to the prolonged period between them and the coming of their Prophets. Most of them abandoned Allah's obedience, preferring His disobedience.
