يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلنَّاسُ ضُرِبَ مَثَلٞ فَٱسۡتَمِعُواْ لَهُۥٓۚ إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ تَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ لَن يَخۡلُقُواْ ذُبَابٗا وَلَوِ ٱجۡتَمَعُواْ لَهُۥۖ وَإِن يَسۡلُبۡهُمُ ٱلذُّبَابُ شَيۡـٔٗا لَّا يَسۡتَنقِذُوهُ مِنۡهُۚ ضَعُفَ ٱلطَّالِبُ وَٱلۡمَطۡلُوبُ
O people, an example is presented, so listen to it. Indeed, those you invoke besides Allāh will never create [as much as] a fly, even if they gathered together for it [i.e., that purpose]. And if the fly should steal from them a [tiny] thing, they could not recover it from him. Weak are the pursuer and pursued.943

Al-Mukhtasar
O people, a parable is about to be presented, so listen carefully and take a lesson from it. Indeed, those idols and other things you worship instead of Allah cannot even create a fly despite its small size because of its inability. Even if they were to convene to try to create it, they would not be able to achieve it. And if a fly were to take anything away from them, such as perfume, etc., they would not have the power to reclaim it. Their inability to create a fly and reclaim anything from it makes their inability to do anything greater than that evident. How can they worship these idols instead of Allah, despite their inability? This pursuer - i.e., the worshipped idol incapable of reclaiming whatever the fly has taken from it- and the pursued, the fly, are both weak.
