And they found a servant from among Our servants [i.e., al-Khiḍr] to whom We had given mercy from Us and had taught him from Us a [certain] knowledge.

Al-Mukhtasar
When they reached the place at which the fish was lost, they found there one of Our righteous slaves (who was Khidr, peace be upon him), to whom We had given mercy and to whom We had taught knowledge that people were not aware of, which is what is contained in this story.
