قَالَ إِنِّيٓ أُرِيدُ أَنۡ أُنكِحَكَ إِحۡدَى ٱبۡنَتَيَّ هَٰتَيۡنِ عَلَىٰٓ أَن تَأۡجُرَنِي ثَمَٰنِيَ حِجَجٖۖ فَإِنۡ أَتۡمَمۡتَ عَشۡرٗا فَمِنۡ عِندِكَۖ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَنۡ أَشُقَّ عَلَيۡكَۚ سَتَجِدُنِيٓ إِن شَآءَ ٱللَّهُ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ
He said, "Indeed, I wish to wed you one of these, my two daughters, on [the condition] that you serve me for eight years; but if you complete ten, it will be [as a favor] from you. And I do not wish to put you in difficulty. You will find me, if Allāh wills, from among the righteous."

Al-Mukhtasar
Their father addressed Moses, saying: I would like to marry one of these two daughters of mine to you, and her dowry will be for you to shepherd our flock for eight years. If you wish, you can extend the period to ten years as a favor from yourself, as the agreement is only for eight years. Whatever is over that is optional. I do not want to obligate something that would put you in hardship. You will find me, God willing, from the righteous people who fulfill their contracts and do not break them.
