And We gave Moses the Scripture, after We had destroyed the former generations, as enlightenment for the people and guidance and mercy that they might be reminded.

Al-Mukhtasar
We sent Our messengers to the previous nations, but they rejected them, so we destroyed them. Afterward, We gave Moses the Torah. It contains what causes the people to see what benefits them so they can implement it and what harms them so they can abandon it. It also guides them to goodness and mercy from the good found in this world and the next so that they might remember Allah's favors upon them, thank Him for that and believe in Him.
