وَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّن شَيۡءٖ فَمَتَٰعُ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةِ ٱلدُّنۡيَا وَزِينَتُهَاۚ وَمَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ خَيۡرٞ وَأَبۡقَىٰٓۚ أَفَلَا تَعۡقِلُونَ
And whatever thing you [people] have been given - it is [only for] the enjoyment of worldly life and its adornment. And what is with Allāh is better and more lasting; so will you not use reason?

Al-Mukhtasar
When the polytheists used the difficulties of war and the cutting off of trade as excuses for not following the Truth, Allah responded to them by stating:
Whatever your Lord has given you is from the enjoyments and embellishments of the worldly life. They will eventually end. The great reward with Allah in the Afterlife is better and more lasting than any enjoyment or embellishment in this world. Will you not understand so that you prefer what lasts over what ends?!
