إِن يَمۡسَسۡكُمۡ قَرۡحٞ فَقَدۡ مَسَّ ٱلۡقَوۡمَ قَرۡحٞ مِّثۡلُهُۥۚ وَتِلۡكَ ٱلۡأَيَّامُ نُدَاوِلُهَا بَيۡنَ ٱلنَّاسِ وَلِيَعۡلَمَ ٱللَّهُ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَيَتَّخِذَ مِنكُمۡ شُهَدَآءَۗ وَٱللَّهُ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ
If a wound should touch you - there has already touched the [opposing] people a wound similar to it. And these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the people so that Allāh may make evident those who believe and [may] take to Himself from among you martyrs - and Allāh does not like the wrongdoers -

Al-Mukhtasar
If you suffered injuries and deaths, O believers, on the day of Uḥud, then the disbelievers suffered the same injuries and deaths you did. Allah distributes such days between people, their believers, and their disbelievers, giving victory and defeat as He wills for reasons of far-reaching wisdom. Among these reasons is for the believers to be distinguished clearly from the hypocrites. Another reason is for whomever He wills to be honored with martyrdom in His path. Therefore, Allah does not love those who oppress themselves by giving up fighting in His path.
