Surah An-Nisa 4:155 النساء

فَبِمَا نَقۡضِهِم مِّيثَٰقَهُمۡ وَكُفۡرِهِم بِـَٔايَٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَتۡلِهِمُ ٱلۡأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيۡرِ حَقّٖ وَقَوۡلِهِمۡ قُلُوبُنَا غُلۡفُۢۚ بَلۡ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيۡهَا بِكُفۡرِهِمۡ فَلَا يُؤۡمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلٗا

And [We cursed them]²³⁰ for their breaking of the covenant and their disbelief in the signs of Allāh and their killing of the prophets without right and their saying, "Our hearts are wrapped" [i.e., sealed against reception]. Rather, Allāh has sealed them because of their disbelief, so they believe not, except for a few.²³¹

Al-Mukhtasar

We distanced them from Our mercy because they broke the promise that was taken from them, and because of their disbelief in Allah's signs, and their boldness in killing prophets sent to them, and for telling Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم: 'Our hearts are covered, so we cannot understand what you say.' That is not the case. Instead, Allah has sealed their hearts due to their disbelief, so no good reaches their hearts. They only have a little faith, which will not be of any use to them.
