فَسِيحُواْ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ أَرۡبَعَةَ أَشۡهُرٖ وَٱعۡلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّكُمۡ غَيۡرُ مُعۡجِزِي ٱللَّهِ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ مُخۡزِي ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
So travel freely, [O disbelievers], throughout the land [during] four months but know that you cannot cause failure to Allāh and that Allāh will disgrace the disbelievers.

Al-Mukhtasar
So travel safely, O polytheists, on earth for a period of four months, after which there will be no covenant for you or protection. And be sure that you will never escape Allah's torment and punishment if you continue to disbelieve in Him. Also, be sure that Allah humiliates the disbelievers by being killed or taken captive in this world and entering The Fire on The Day of Resurrection. This includes those who broke their covenant and those who had an open covenant without any fixed period. As for those with whom you made a covenant for a limited period, their covenant will be completed until the end of the specified period, even if this is longer than four months.
