لَقَدۡ نَصَرَكُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِي مَوَاطِنَ كَثِيرَةٖ وَيَوۡمَ حُنَيۡنٍ إِذۡ أَعۡجَبَتۡكُمۡ كَثۡرَتُكُمۡ فَلَمۡ تُغۡنِ عَنكُمۡ شَيۡـٔٗا وَضَاقَتۡ عَلَيۡكُمُ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتۡ ثُمَّ وَلَّيۡتُم مُّدۡبِرِينَ
Allāh has already given you victory in many regions and [even] on the day of Ḥunayn, when your great number pleased you, but it did not avail you at all, and the earth was confining for you with [i.e., in spite of] its vastness; then you turned back, fleeing.

Al-Mukhtasar
Allah has certainly supported you, O believers, against your enemies among the polytheists in many battles, despite your deficient numbers and weak equipment, when you relied on Allah and took the appropriate measures. You were not impressed by your abundance, for abundance was not the cause of your victory over them. And We supported you on the day of Hunayn when you were impressed by your abundance, so you said: We will not be defeated today from deficiency. Then your abundance which impressed you did not benefit you at all, so your enemy overwhelmed you, and the earth became constricted upon you, despite its vastness. Then you ran away from your enemies, fleeing in defeat.
