Al-Haqq

This name in the Quran

Each ayah below was read in its context and confirmed by two independent reviews, on one question: does this word name Allah here. Where the two disagreed the ayah was dropped. Some of them carry the name as a verb or in another form rather than as the noun itself.

1. فَتَعَٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّۗ وَلَا تَعۡجَلۡ بِٱلۡقُرۡءَانِ مِن قَبۡلِ أَن يُقۡضَىٰٓ إِلَيۡكَ وَحۡيُهُۥۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدۡنِي عِلۡمٗا ۝١١٤

   So high [above all] is Allāh, the Sovereign,⁸⁶¹ the Truth.⁸⁶² And, [O Muḥammad], do not hasten with [recitation of] the Qur’ān before its revelation is completed to you, and say, "My Lord, increase me in knowledge."

   1. 861 And owner of everything in existence.
   2. 862 Or "the True Reality," i.e., the real and permanent existence upon which all other existence depends.
   20:114

2. ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَأَنَّهُۥ يُحۡيِ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ وَأَنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَيۡءٖ قَدِيرٞ ۝٦

   That is because Allāh is the True Reality and because He gives life to the dead and because He is over all things competent

   22:6

3. ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ وَأَنَّ مَا يَدۡعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ هُوَ ٱلۡبَٰطِلُ وَأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡعَلِيُّ ٱلۡكَبِيرُ ۝٦٢

   That is because Allāh is the True Reality, and that which they call upon other than Him is falsehood, and because Allāh is the Most High, the Grand.

   22:62

4. فَتَعَٰلَى ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡمَلِكُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ ٱلۡعَرۡشِ ٱلۡكَرِيمِ ۝١١٦

   So exalted is Allāh, the Sovereign,⁹⁶⁹ the Truth;⁹⁷⁰ there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Noble Throne.

   23:116

5. يَوۡمَئِذٖ يُوَفِّيهِمُ ٱللَّهُ دِينَهُمُ ٱلۡحَقَّ وَيَعۡلَمُونَ أَنَّ ٱللَّهَ هُوَ ٱلۡحَقُّ ٱلۡمُبِينُ ۝٢٥

   That Day, Allāh will pay them in full their true [i.e., deserved] recompense, and they will know that it is Allāh who is the manifest Truth [i.e., perfect in justice].
