وَإِذَا مَسَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ ٱلضُّرُّ دَعَانَا لِجَنۢبِهِۦٓ أَوۡ قَاعِدًا أَوۡ قَآئِمٗا فَلَمَّا كَشَفۡنَا عَنۡهُ ضُرَّهُۥ مَرَّ كَأَن لَّمۡ يَدۡعُنَآ إِلَىٰ ضُرّٖ مَّسَّهُۥۚ كَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعۡمَلُونَ
And when affliction touches man, he calls upon Us, whether lying on his side or sitting or standing; but when We remove from him his affliction, he continues [in disobedience] as if he had never called upon Us to [remove] an affliction that touched him. Thus is made pleasing to the transgressors that which they have been doing.

Al-Mukhtasar
And whenever an affliction such as illness or misfortune touches the man who transgresses against himself, he supplicates to Us, humbly and submissively, whether lying on his side, sitting or standing, hoping for the affliction to be removed from him. However, when We respond to his supplication and remove the affliction, he continues doing what he had been doing before, as if he had never supplicated to Us to remove the affliction. Just as continuing in misguidance is made attractive to this person who turns away, the disbelief and sins of those who transgress the limits are made attractive to them, so they do not give them up.
