ٱرۡجِعُوٓاْ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِيكُمۡ فَقُولُواْ يَٰٓأَبَانَآ إِنَّ ٱبۡنَكَ سَرَقَ وَمَا شَهِدۡنَآ إِلَّا بِمَا عَلِمۡنَا وَمَا كُنَّا لِلۡغَيۡبِ حَٰفِظِينَ
Return to your father and say, 'O our father, indeed your son has stolen, and we did not testify except to what we knew. And we were not witnesses of the unseen.613

Al-Mukhtasar
The eldest brother said, return to your father, and tell him that his son had stolen, and the minister of Egypt has taken him as a slave as a punishment for his theft, and we only relate to you what we have knowingly witnessed; the golden measuring bowl was retrieved from his bag, we had no knowledge that he had stolen if we had known, we would have never taken an oath to return him.
