أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ ٱفۡتَرَىٰهُۖ قُلۡ إِنِ ٱفۡتَرَيۡتُهُۥ فَلَا تَمۡلِكُونَ لِي مِنَ ٱللَّهِ شَيۡـًٔاۖ هُوَ أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِۚ كَفَىٰ بِهِۦ شَهِيدَۢا بَيۡنِي وَبَيۡنَكُمۡۖ وَهُوَ ٱلۡغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ
Or do they say, "He has invented it"? Say, "If I have invented it, you will not possess for me [the power of protection] from Allāh at all. He is most knowing of that in which you are involved.1478 Sufficient is He as Witness between me and you, and He is the Forgiving, the Merciful."

Al-Mukhtasar
Do these polytheists say that Muhammad has made up this Quran and attributed it to Allah? Say to them, O Messenger: If I have made it up on my part, you do not have power over any plan for me if Allah wants to punish me, so how can I put myself at risk of punishment by fabricating against Him? Allah knows best about what you engage in defaming His Quran and slandering me. He (may He be glorified) is sufficient as a witness between me and you. And He forgives the sins of His slaves who repent to Him and is Merciful to them.
